Canyoning in the Dominican Republic
From January 2 - January 7 Climb Higher Ground went to explore canyons in the Dominican Republic. Our group completed descents through 5 spectacular canyons in the Carribean. Most of the canyons have only been descended a few times, so we carried all the necessary equipment to install new anchors. We ended up installing a few bolts and anchors for future parties. The canyons were previously named Arroyo Blanco, Arroyo de La Virgen, Toro Flaco, Barahuco & Canyon de La Virgen. Each canyon was incredibly unique and offered it’s own set of problem solving. A few photos below:

A fun and beautiful sequence on Toro Flaco.
Two boulders wedged above a waterfall, while one member rappels through the flow.
The bushwhacking was intense in the Dominican Republic…. As there were no establlished trails to most canyons.
